Lance (Yashma’s human) and Yashma are regulars down at Everett Marina, where we began our session. It was a postcard sort of day.

We then ventured to some very pretty country side next to a slough up north of Everett.

Lance’s good friend Elizabeth was with us. She bought him the session as a gift! You will remember Elizabeth’s dogs Jasper and Teako, who I photographed last year. Sadly, Elizabeth lost Jasper two weeks after our session.

Beauford loves, sticks, creeks, riding in the truck, sticks, swimming, sticks, treats, tennis balls, and sticks. Beauford had a huge grin on his face, until we left the creek with its big stick. Boy he looked forlorn! But not to worry, he goes to work each day with his dad, and the business is right next to the creek. So he is there lots!

Ruby is not afraid to get down and dirty in the mud, jumped in the creek a few times, ate lots of treats, and did it all with such a sweet and fun attitude! She definitely loves her life.

We started the session at a local park where the girls explored, sniffed the flowers, ran zoomies, played, and had a super time.

Then we trekked back to their home for some quiet and relaxed photos.

My photo sessions last for two hours, which allows me to get a wide range of shots.

Barbara drove up from Vancouver, Washington for this session. We met up in Bellevue at the downtown park. After strolling around there, we went to 520 Bar & Grill for lunch. Great food and dog friendly patio! Two paws up for 520!  We then meandered around Old Bellevue before heading over to Meydenbauer Beach Park where we finished up our wonderful session.

Wonderful Wilma, is well…wonderful! Here is a bit about her from her facebook page:

Her birthday is June 18, 2000.

Wilma Wonderful is a sweet  11 year old Jack Russell Terrier who rescued her momma from the streets of Battleground, WA in May, 2007.  She is the best dog ever! Wilma is the mother of 5 pups. She was adopted by her forever family in May 2007 and is loved to the point of insanity.  Wilma is currently writing a book about the virtues of adopting your next pet.  (She has been writing it for the past 3 years,  but hey, she’s a dog! Giver her a break!)

Wilma’s personal interests include, snuggling, lounging, eating, rolling in yucky stuff, long walks with her momma, playing with other pups, rolling on her back, treats, massage and general belly rubbing.

Sweet Zeus is a new family member, This six month old adorable wire haired dachshund was has been with Barbara, Wilma Wonderful, and the other family members on March 15, 2012.  He is quite the character and an absolute doll to photograph.

Ernestine adopted Luca from Homeward Pet Adoption Center last year. At the time, his name was Captain Underpants! He was being fostered by Debbie, who now has Lucy who I photographed recently. Ernestine’s daughter Adrien, bought the photo session for her mom for Christmas. You’ll recognize Adrien’s dogs, especially that cuter than heck London. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing him, and his doggy siblings, several times.  Adrien, is not only a super nice daughter, she’s also a super nice friend! She also gave one her friend Tracie one of my photo sessions for Christmas.  Tracie has a great pack of dogs!

Here is Robin’s lab/dalamation Rosie, who she adopted in 2002 from the Seattle Animal Shelter, where Robin volunteered. Robin said Rosie was the scaredest dog she’d ever met. Rosie is no longer scared! She and I became great friends during today’s session.

Meet Ollie. His names suits him. Robin adopted Ollie in 2004 from Seattle Humane: The Humane Society for Seattle/King County. He’s supposed to be 12, but naw…he’s not a day over 10!

Kula the kutie. Robin rescued him from a kill shelter in Maui in 2005 and brought him home. Who knows what DNA he’s got…mini aussie, cattle dog, american eskimo…whatever the mix is, it’s adorable!

Then we headed down to Tolt-McDonald Park in Carnation where there is a very cool bridge and the picturesque Tolt River.

After the river, we went back to Jasper and Teako’s home in Duvall for some relaxed, happy, tired photos. I also got some photos of their ducks, Dandy and Coco.

I received this very sad news yesterday from Jasper’s mom, Elizabeth.

Jasper ‘Dash’

February 5, 1997 – February 20, 2012

It is with a heavy heart I am telling you that I had to say ‘good-bye’ to my Jasper yesterday. He was full of life and health up to the very end until an unknown tumor on his spleen started bleeding. He had 15 years in this world, and it was full of love and happiness. One could only dream of having 90-105 years* of such a life.

He certainly touched all our hearts and taught me some great lessons. He is already missed by me – and Teako (though he won’t readily admit it.)

His ashes will be spread in the National Forest to nourish the seedlings. I know he would approve of that. And I know that he is now running around in the Big Field and swimming in the Great River and being the J Dog we all know and love.

* depends on how you calculate dog years.

Rest in peace sweet Jasper.

Tracy has rescued several chihuahuas from Mexico, including her own Dash, and the infamous London and Lola, that now live with Adrien, and her two other dogs, Howie and Denver.

We started the session at Marymoor Park in Redmond where the dogs rocked out up on stage! From left to right, Jax, Cocoa, Duchess, Dash, and Miles.

We ended the session at Tracy’s beautiful home! Happy and tired. It’s hard work being photographed!

This session was an extra special and a heartbreaking one, because Sally had been diagnosed with bone cancer. Her human Becky wanted photos to remember her sweet Sally by in the years to come. Sally was only six years old at the time.

I emailed Becky yesterday to tell her that I had posted more sneak peeks on my Julie Austin Photography facebook page and learned that Sally had passed earlier yesterday. Rest in peace dear Sally. You are missed.

Sugie is a lovely girl. So very poised and refined. A true lady.

Thumper is totally hugable and lovable. Becky and her family are fostering her for Old Dog Haven. One of my very favorite rescues.

I have said this before, and I’ll say it again…please don’t wait until it is too late for photos of your dogs. You don’t need to hire me. Go buy a disposable camera, or use your phone, anything! Just take some pictures!

Rest in peace Sally.

First off, I was introduced to Adrien by Debbie (who belongs to Lucy). Our first session was with Debbie and Lucy. Then Adrien adopted London (who was rescued from Mexico by Tracy, more to come on her and her pack later). Oh, Lola was also rescued from Mexico by Tracy. Ole’ Tracy! So, then I did another session for Adrien that included London. Then Adrien bought a session for Tracy as a surprise Christmas gift.  Lola and London were there at that session too, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few more pictures of them then. Adrien also bought a session for her mother as a Christmas gift and I’ll be doing that in February.

All of the sessions so far have been a total blast! Adrien and her dogs are so much fun to hang out with.
